Add volumes to a SRDF/Metro Smart DR environment
SRDF/Metro Smart DR is a two-region high available (HA) disaster recovery (DR) solution. It integrates SRDF/Metro and SRDF/A enabling HA DR for a Metro session.
Prerequisites
The storage system must be running PowerMaxOS 5978 Q3 2020 or later.

About this task
To add volumes to a smart DR environment:
Steps
- Select the storage system.
- Select Data Protection > MetroDR to display the MetroDR Environments list view.
- Select a smart DR environment.

Click
Modify.
The Modify wizard opens.

The
Add volumes to the Metro DR Environment option is selected as default.

Do one of the following:
- Add New Pairs(default).
- Automatically select staging SRDF Groups and Automatically select volumes are selected as default. These options can be cleared.
- Click Next.
- Enter the number of Volumes, Capacity, Capacity Type, and Emulation.
Or- Add New Pairs(default).
- Clear the Automatically select staging SRDF Groups and Automatically select volumes options and click Next.
- Manually select volumes for the R1 array, click Select Volumes.
- Locate the volumes by selecting or typing values for any number of the following criteria:
- Capacity equal to—Filters the list for volumes with a specific capacity and capacity type.
- Volume ID—Filters the list for a volume with a specific ID.
- Volume Identifier Name—Filters the list for the specified volume name.
- Volume configuration—Filters the list for the specified volume configuration.
- Emulation—Filters the list for the specified volume emulation.
- Exclude Volumes in use—Tick the checkbox to filter the list to exclude volumes in use.
- Click Next to run the query. Results are displayed on the next page in the wizard.
- Select the volumes and click OK.
- Click
Select Volumes for the R2 array and then the DR array.
NOTE: The number and configuration of all volumes that are selected for the Metro R1 array must be matched for the R2 and DR arrays.
- Click Next.
- The Select Staging RDFGs panel is displayed.
- Click Select.
- Select the RDFG and click OK.
Or- Add Existing Pairs.
- Click Next.
- The Select Staging RDFGs panel is displayed.
- Click
Select.
NOTE:
- The SRDF Group must be R11.
- Pairs must be concurrent, with the synchronous, and the adaptive copy leg.
- The synchronous leg must be to the Metro R2 array of the selected Metro DR environment.
- The adaptive copy leg must be to the DR array of the selected Metro DR environment.
- Select the RDFG and click OK.
- All Pairs is selected as default. Select Select Pairs and click Select.
- The Select Pairs window is displayed. Choose the required pairs from the list.
- Click OK. View the selected pairs using the links provided.

Click
Next.
- The Summary is displayed.

Do one of the following:
- Click Run Now to perform the operation now.
- Expand Run Now and click Add to Job List to add this task to the job list, from which you can schedule or run the task at your convenience. For more information, see Schedule jobs and Preview jobs.
